Construction Multi-Skills Tutor - HMP Wandsworth - PRISON EDUCATION

Location: HMP Wandsworth
Salary: From £33,000 + £5,000 London Weighting
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (typically 37.5 hours/week)

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 7:45am - 5:00pm, Friday 7:45am - 12:30pm

About the Role
Join us as a Construction Multi-Skills Tutor at HMP Wandsworth, delivering engaging, high-quality vocational training to small groups of learners with limited prior education. Based on-site, you'll inspire and support learners to develop their construction skills, knowledge, behaviours, and long‑term goals. You'll create and maintain training plans, offer meaningful advice and guidance, and ensure learners have every opportunity to reach their potential.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Planning and delivering vocational training across a range of construction disciplines.
  • Motivating and inspiring learners who may have limited experience in education.
  • Creating tailored training plans and monitoring individual progress.
  • Providing advice, guidance, and progression planning.
  • Ensuring high standards of course delivery and safety compliance.

What We're Looking For

  • Level 3 vocational qualification in a construction-related discipline.
  • Substantial vocational experience in trades like carpentry, bricklaying, plumbing, plastering, or similar.
  • Experience delivering vocational training.
  • Teaching or assessing qualification (e.g., PTLLS, DTLLS, A1/A2, CAVA) is desirable-but not essential.
  • A commitment to using diverse training methods to engage learners.
  • Openness to gaining a teaching/assessing qualification during the probationary period if not already held.
