Personal Development Tutor
Ellesmere Port
Full time - 37hrs per week Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm
Temporary on-going with termly performance reviews
Hourly paid - £18 - £20 per hour

Main Purpose of Job:
To provide innovative and engaging personal development support to:

  • Ensure learners thrive and progress
  • Deliver group tutorials and targeted one-to-one tutorials for higher risk learners
  • Monitor and intervene to support learners at risk of drop out or underachievement
  • Ensure effective communication and liaison to support learners
  • Provide learners with a clear line of sight to employment, self-employment or HE; developing their confidence and relevant skills in order to get there
  • Safeguarding and a culture of excellence and equality and reflect the vision, mission, aims and values of the College

Main Responsibilities

  • Underpinning the learner journey with appropriate and timely support
  • Providing opportunities for learners to develop resilience, knowledge and skills that lead to success
  • Ensuring learners progress onto further study, apprenticeships or work with confidence and independence.
  • Track learner attendance, identify and challenge patterns of poor attendance and engagement and provide appropriate support to promote consistent participation

Have you got what it takes?

  • An effective personal tutor, advisor or mentor
  • Excellent knowledge of the personal development themes covered in a group tutorial
  • Ability to deliver effective group tutorial sessions, including those on more sensitive topics
  • Experience of working with and facilitating group sessions to young people (16-18) (either teaching or group settings)
  • Emotional intelligence, self-awareness and confidence
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to develop positive working relationships at all levels
  • GCSE C or above (or equivalent) Maths and English
