Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Delivery

  • Deliver engaging, vocationally relevant teaching sessions across designated curriculum areas.
  • Teach a range of units across Level 1-Level 3 (and Level 4 where applicable).
  • Develop lesson plans and resources that meet curriculum and awarding body requirements.
  • Integrate industry‑standard practices, tools, and safety protocols into learning sessions.

Assessment & Quality

  • Assess learner work both practically and theoretically to awarding body standards.
  • Conduct workplace assessments (for Assessor roles) to verify competence and progress.
  • Track learner progress, maintain accurate learning records, and produce timely reports.
  • Participate in internal verification, standardisation, and quality assurance procedures.

Learner Support

  • Provide guidance, feedback, and academic support to ensure learner success.
  • Promote positive attitudes, professional behaviours, and employability skills.
  • Adapt delivery for diverse learner needs, including SEN where applicable.

Team & Compliance

  • Work collaboratively within curriculum teams to maintain high-quality provision.
  • Uphold FE safeguarding, health & safety, and compliance responsibilities.
  • Attend training, meetings, and CPD activities where required.

Essential Requirements (All Roles)

  • Relevant industry qualifications in your specialist area (e.g., Electrical Installations, Motor Vehicle, Engineering, Construction).
  • Teaching Qualification (PGCE, CertEd, DTLLS, AET, or willingness to work towards).
  • Experience teaching or assessing within a Further Education environment.
  • Strong vocational knowledge aligned to current industry practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and a learner‑centred approach.

Role-Specific Requirements

Electrical Installations Lecturers

  • Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification (or higher).
  • Ideally 18th Edition / AM2 / Inspection & Testing experience.

Engineering Lecturers

  • Mechanical, Electrical, or General Engineering background.
  • Ability to deliver technical theory and practical workshop sessions.

Motor Vehicle Lecturers

  • IMI or equivalent MV qualification.
  • Experience working on diagnostics, servicing, repair, and modern vehicle technologies.

BE (Building & Engineering) Lecturers

  • Knowledge of construction trades, building services, or civil engineering.

Assessors

  • Assessor award (A1, TAQA, CAVA).
  • Ability to visit learners on-site (where applicable).

Desirable

  • QTLS status (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience using digital learning platforms (Teams, Moodle, Google Classroom).
  • Recent industry experience ensuring up‑to‑date sector knowledge.
