Finance Officer
FE College (South Yorkshire)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Temporary until December 2026

About the Role
An established FE College in South Yorkshire is seeking a proactive and organised Finance Officer to join the team on a temporary basis until December 2026. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a busy finance department supporting students, staff, and wider College operations.
Working within a supportive finance team, you will provide day‑to‑day administrative and financial processing support across sales and purchase ledgers, banking, online payment systems, and general finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
As Finance Officer, your duties will include:
  • Maintaining the sales ledger, purchase ledger and cashiering functions
  • Registering and processing invoices accurately and promptly
  • Ensuring timely invoicing for income due
  • Downloading and posting bank statements, allocations, and reconciliations
  • Managing Direct Debit setup and collections
  • Overseeing finance and procurement inboxes
  • Handling internal and external enquiries professionally
  • Receiving and banking College income
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
  • Experienced in a similar finance role (essential)
  • Ideally experienced within the Education sector
  • Qualified in English and Maths at Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent)
  • Highly organised, methodical and able to manage a busy workload
  • IT proficient with strong customer service skills
  • A team player, with a positive and professional approach
  • Able to work with confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail
