Lecturer in Sports - Higher Education - Specialism in Physiology / Nutrition

We're seeking an experienced and inspiring Lecturer in Sports to deliver high‑quality, face‑to‑face teaching.

Working within the School of Health and Sports Science, you will design and deliver engaging modules, support students' academic development, and ensure an exceptional learning experience. This role is ideal for someone with strong subject expertise, excellent teaching skills, and a genuine commitment to student success, while also contributing to curriculum development, academic quality processes, and wider programme initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high‑quality lectures, seminars, and tutorials.
  • Create and update teaching materials, assessments, and module content.
  • Assess student work and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Provide academic advising and pastoral support to students.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and documentation.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and programme enhancement.

Essential Requirements:

  • At least 2 years' UK Higher Education teaching experience.
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Fellowship of Advance HE (or equivalent UK teaching qualification).
  • Strong subject knowledge and ability to teach across multiple modules.
  • Experience in curriculum development, quality assurance, and assessment.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and support diverse student groups.
  • Confident using digital tools for learning, teaching, and assessment.
  • Flexible, innovative, and student‑centred approach.

Leadership, Planning and Operational Management 1. Provide daily leadership and operational oversight of the Student Compliance Team, ensuring high performance, clear priorities and effective workload planning. 2. Line manage Immigration Compliance Officers, CAS Coordinators and the Attendance Administrator, including responsibility for objective-setting, performance management, coaching and professional development. 3. Work with the Head of Student Immigration and Compliance to review, plan and enhance operational processes, policies and compliance frameworks in response to changes in UKVI legislation. 4. Deputise for the Head of Student Immigration and Compliance as required, providing authoritative guidance and operational leadership across the University. Data Management, Reporting and Quality Assurance 5. Lead the preparation, analysis and presentation of compliance data for operational use and reporting 6. Develop, implement and monitor data-quality assurance mechanisms to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency of all immigration-related data across systems. 7. Oversee the maintenance, integrity and reconciliation of the student record system, related spreadsheets and SMS records, ensuring they remain audit-ready and compliant with UKVI statutory requirements. 8. Support the Head of Immigration and Compliance in preparing for and presenting institutional records during UKVI audits, ensuring documentation, data trails and evidence are complete and robust. 9. Develop and manage reporting processes to fulfil Appendix D/Sponsor duties, including visa expiry monitoring, contact detail verification, attendance and engagement data, and other compliance-critical datasets. CAS, SMS and Compliance Operations 10. Provide oversight of the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) process, ensuring accurate data entry, eligibility checks and timely issuance. 11. Oversee staff delivering international student advice services, ensuring appropriate escalation and resolution. 12. Oversee the team undertaking the reporting of changes in student circumstances to UKVI via the SMS, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and alignment with internal records. 13. Work with the Deputy Academic Registrar to plan and manage the reporting of non-progressing students, ensuring clear communication with affected students and accurate updates to UKVI systems. Enrolment, Attendance and Engagement Monitoring 14. Play a key role in the University's enrolment processes, including oversight of documentation collection, data validation and reporting of non-enrolling students. 15. Coordinate the University's attendance and engagement monitoring processes, ensuring data accuracy, timely investigation of anomalies and effective liaison with Departmental Officers and Deputy Registrars. Staff Development, Training and Awareness 16. Lead training and development for the Student Immigration and Compliance team, identifying skills gaps and ensuring staff are equipped to manage complex data. 17. Support Head of Immigration and Compliance to promote staff and institutional awareness of UKVI requirements through presentations, guidance materials and updates to online resources. 18.
