Apprenticeship Tutor / Assessor - Gas Engineering

Location: Stevenage Campus

Salary: Up to £42,675.36 FTE (depending on experience) + pension

About the Role

We are seeking an outstanding Apprenticeship Tutor/Assessor to join our training and skills team. You will play a key role in supporting learners to achieve their full potential across the Gas Engineering Apprenticeship Standard, while also contributing to the development of future delivery in Plumbing and Heating.

With a passion for high‑quality training, you will guide apprentices from recruitment through to achievement, delivering engaging learning, assessing competence, and ensuring all compliance and quality requirements are met. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on supporting learners, working collaboratively with employers, and delivering exceptional vocational training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learner Recruitment & Onboarding - Support the recruitment, sign‑up, induction, and initial assessment of learners.

  • High Expectations - Promote ambition and maintain high expectations for all apprentices.

  • Employer Liaison - Work closely with employers to create tailored learning and delivery plans that support timely achievement.

  • Soft Skills Development - Help learners develop workplace behaviours, confidence, and employability skills.

  • Teaching & Assessment - Deliver outstanding learning sessions using creative and inclusive methods.

  • Maths & English Support - Support learners to develop functional skills using the Century learning platform.

  • Progress Reviews - Conduct regular progress reviews, setting SMART targets with learners and employers.

  • Practical Assessment - Support learners through practical assessments and maintain accurate awarding‑body documentation.

  • Quality & Compliance - Ensure full compliance using OneFile, meeting Awarding Body, SFA, and Ofsted requirements.

  • Safeguarding & Safety - Maintain a safe learning environment and promote British Values.

  • Collaboration - Liaise with support teams, external agencies, and parents/carers to ensure strong learner progress.

  • Administration - Support programme administration and ensure accurate retention, attendance, and success records.

  • Professional Development - Engage in ongoing CPD, including working towards the Award in Education and Training (AET).

Person Specification

Knowledge & Experience

  • Teaching or Industry Background - Experience delivering outstanding teaching/learning OR relevant industry experience.

  • Relevant Qualification - Degree or occupational qualification in the subject area.

  • Maths & English - A*-C (or equivalent).
