Quality Assurance and Governance Officer

Reporting to the Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager, the post holder will support the operation and development of academic quality assurance and governance processes. The role involves close engagement with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies, ensuring robust evidence, accurate records, and high‑quality reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, and review of quality assurance policies and procedures in line with OfS, QAA, and PSRB requirements
  • Maintain accurate, secure, and audit‑ready quality and governance records
  • Prepare documentation and evidence for internal reviews, external audits, and accreditation activity
  • Support programme validation, revalidation, and modification processes
  • Coordinate annual programme and module reviews and track follow‑up actions
  • Manage accreditation processes, including action tracking and dissemination of good practice
  • Oversee the External Examiner lifecycle, including appointments, induction, and communication
  • Service academic committees, including agenda preparation, minute‑taking, and action monitoring
  • Produce clear, concise reports and papers for committees and senior stakeholders
  • Contribute proactively to continuous improvement across QA processes and the student experience

About You

You will bring experience and confidence working within a higher education quality, governance, or compliance environment, along with strong organisational and communication skills.

Essential criteria:

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience within Higher Education quality assurance, academic governance, or regulatory compliance
  • Good understanding of UK Higher Education quality frameworks (OfS, QAA, PSRBs)
  • Experience supporting or servicing committees
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Confident IT user (MS Office, virtual meeting platforms, document management systems)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels

Working Pattern

This is a hybrid role, with one day per week onsite in Stevenage as standard, and flexibility to attend onsite 2-3 days per week when required for key meetings or activities.
