About the Role

Are you an experienced High Voltage Electrical Engineer looking to step off the tools and move into a rewarding training role?

We are recruiting an HV Electrical Trainer / Safe Systems of Work Trainer to deliver high‑quality, industry‑leading training to the next generation of Authorised Persons and electrical professionals.

You will join a forward‑thinking private technical training provider that has invested heavily in state‑of‑the‑art training facilities, global expansion, and learner excellence. Full onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing professional development will be provided.


The Role

Following a structured induction and training programme, you will:

  • Deliver High Voltage Operator and Electrical Safe Systems of Work training
  • Instruct, demonstrate, and assess learners to the highest technical and safety standards
  • Deliver training on HV and LV principles, including switchgear operations
  • Support learners through practical assessments, focusing on safe and competent performance
  • Work collaboratively with learners, clients, and colleagues to ensure effective outcomes
  • Monitor learner health, safety, and welfare, acting where required
  • Adapt training delivery to suit different learning styles and environments
  • Travel nationally on occasion to deliver client‑based training

Essential Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered:

✅ Proven experience working with High Voltage electrical systems
Minimum 3 years' experience as an HV Authorised Person (AP)
- ideally within NHS, Defence Estates, utilities, or industrial settings
✅ Strong working knowledge of HV Safe Systems of Work, including:

  • Switching schedules
  • Permits to work
    Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
    Level 3 Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, or equivalent)
    Level 3 Teaching qualification (PTLLS, AET, or equivalent)
    Level 2 Mathematics and English
    Full UK Driving Licence


Desirable (but not essential)

  • HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience delivering internal training or mentoring Authorised Persons
  • Previous instructional or training delivery experience within technically regulated environments

Additional Experience Highly Valued

  • 6-10 years' experience as an AP or SAP within an electrical discipline
  • Experience working under multiple sets of electrical safety rules (not limited to one organisation)
  • Flexible, learner‑focused approach to Electrical Safe Systems of Work training
  • Emphasis on practical competence and learner understanding, not rigid model answers
  • Willingness to adapt course content and delivery styles
