Hours:

  • Monday - Thursday: 7:45am - 5:00pm
  • Friday: 7:45am - 12:30pm

About the Role

We are recruiting a Catering Tutor to join the prison education team based on‑site at HMP/YOI Feltham. In this role, you will deliver catering and hospitality training to small groups of learners in custody, supporting them to develop practical skills, confidence, and positive behaviours that improve employability and outcomes on release.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity, ideal for an experienced catering professional who is passionate about sharing industry knowledge and supporting others to progress. Industry‑experienced candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, even if you have not previously worked in education.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, high‑quality catering and hospitality training
  • Support learners to develop practical skills aligned to industry standards
  • Plan and deliver sessions that meet awarding‑body and programme requirements
  • Maintain accurate learner records and documentation
  • Provide guidance, support, and encouragement to learners throughout their programme
  • Embed employability skills and promote positive progression pathways
  • Work collaboratively as part of a prison‑based education team
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Essential Criteria (Please Read Carefully)

To be considered for this role, you must have:

A Level 3 Catering qualification (or equivalent)
Substantial vocational experience within catering or hospitality
✅ A genuine interest in supporting learners to develop skills and confidence

No prior teaching or assessing qualifications are required to apply.


Desirable

  • Teaching qualification (e.g. PTLLS / AET / Cert Ed or equivalent)
  • Assessing qualification (e.g. TAQA, A1, CAVA, V1)
  • Experience delivering training or mentoring in the workplace
  • Experience within education, training providers, or secure environments

Training & Development

If you do not currently hold teaching or assessing qualifications, full support and structured development will be provided to help you achieve these as part of your role. This makes the position an excellent opportunity for experienced industry professionals looking to move into education.
