The Protocol Group are working with a client seeking an inspiring and forward‑thinking Assistant Head of Department to support the leadership of our Multi‑Skills & Trowel Trades provision across both Cambridge and Huntingdon campuses.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator and emerging leader to play a key role in shaping the future of construction education, developing staff, and driving exceptional student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Head of Department in managing curriculum delivery, staffing, and resources
Lead on maintaining high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment
Monitor and track performance to ensure excellent student outcomes
Coach, mentor, and inspire staff to continuously improve their practice
Motivate students to achieve their full potential
Foster a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and industry standards

Requirements:

Extensive teaching experience within the Further Education (FE) sector
Strong knowledge of construction trades, particularly in multi-skills or brickwork (desirable but not essential)
A clear understanding of FE frameworks, quality assurance, and curriculum delivery
Up-to-date Health & Safety knowledge relevant to construction environments
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
A recognised teaching qualification (DET, DTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent)
