Curriculum Lead - Engineering

Doncaster, South Yorkshire

35.5 hours per week - permanent position available until end of September in the first instance.

Hourly rate dependant on experience and qualifications.

Protocol is working with a client who are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Curriculum Lead in Engineering to join their dynamic and growing department. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate education professional to lead on curriculum design, quality improvement, and the delivery of high-quality engineering programmes.

You will play a key role in shaping and developing an innovative Engineering curriculum, ensuring it meets industry standards and equips students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and employability attributes needed for future careers.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team of lecturers, drive continuous improvement, and build strong employer partnerships to enhance learner experiences and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of Engineering programmes across FE levels
  • Manage and support a team of lecturers to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment
  • Design and develop curriculum content aligned with awarding body requirements (e.g. BTEC, City & Guilds, T Levels)
  • Monitor student progress, achievement, and retention, implementing strategies to drive success
  • Ensure quality assurance processes are embedded and maintain compliance with Ofsted and awarding organisations
  • Develop strong links with industry partners to enhance curriculum relevance and create progression opportunities
  • Promote innovation in teaching, including the use of new technologies and industry-standard practices
  • Manage resources, including workshops and equipment, ensuring health and safety standards are met
  • Contribute to departmental planning, budgeting, and strategic development
  • Support student progression into higher education, apprenticeships, and employment

Requirements:

  • Hold a degree or relevant qualification in Engineering or a closely related subject
  • Significant teaching experience within Engineering in Further Education or a similar setting
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role (e.g. Course Leader, Programme Manager, or similar)
  • Hold a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and quality assurance processes
  • Up-to-date industry knowledge and a passion for delivering high-quality education
  • Hold a DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
