The Protocol Group is building a dedicated pool of experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) across Nottinghamshire for the new academic year starting September 2026. We are completing compliance and onboarding now so candidates are fully cleared and ready to begin work as soon as term starts.

We are seeking reliable, learner‑focused support staff who can offer day‑to‑day, part‑time, full‑time, temporary, or long‑term availability within Further Education colleges across the county.

Role Overview

LSAs support learners across a wide range of curriculum areas, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their goals. You will work closely with teaching teams, SEND departments, and curriculum staff to deliver high‑quality, inclusive support.

Key Responsibilities

  • One‑to‑one and small‑group learner support
  • Classroom assistance across vocational and academic subjects
  • Supporting learners with SEND or additional needs
  • Note‑taking, study‑skills guidance, and access support
  • Encouraging engagement, independence, and positive learning behaviours
  • Working collaboratively with tutors and support teams

Requirements

  • Previous LSA experience, preferably in a Further Education setting
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt support to a variety of learner needs and curriculum areas
  • Professional, reliable, and committed to learner progress

Learning Support Assistant - Further Education (Manchester Area) Manchester and surrounding areas Hourly paid - Flexible daytime hours available £12-£14 per hour About the Role Protocol is working in partnership with a number of well-established Further Education colleges across the Manchester area. We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join our talent pool ahead of upcoming opportunities in the new academic year. This is a great opportunity to work in dynamic FE environments, supporting learners to achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities Provide in-class, 1:1, and small group support across a range of subjects. Collaborate closely with lecturers and college support teams to deliver tailored support. Encourage student independence, confidence, and engagement in learning. Support students with EHCPs and adapt approaches to meet individual needs. Assist with monitoring learner progress and providing feedback when required. You Will Ideally Have Previous experience supporting learners aged 16+ in education, care, or similar settings. A Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (or equivalent). Strong communication skills with a patient and empathetic approach. The ability to motivate and engage young people in an educational setting. An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through Protocol).
