The Role

You'll deliver City & Guilds Functional Skills English or Maths from Entry Level 1 to Level 2, helping learners develop core skills in a way that's engaging, practical, and relevant.

What You'll Be Doing

Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to a range of learning abilities
Carry out initial assessments and use diagnostic tools to identify starting points
Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
Plan creative and motivating sessions that drive learner progress
Support learners with additional needs and provide appropriate adjustments
Monitor progress and prepare learners for exams and assessments
Embed confidence, communication, and real-life application into learning
Promote literacy, numeracy, and a culture of learning across the environment
Work collaboratively with colleagues to support positive outcomes

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who believes in the power of education to change lives.

Essential

Level 3 qualification in Maths and English
Teaching qualification at Level 5 (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS) or willingness to work towards one
Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths or English
Strong classroom management and engagement skills
Ability to adapt teaching to suit diverse learning needs
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and learner success

Desirable

Experience in prison, further education, or adult learning
Familiarity with BKSB or similar diagnostic tools
Understanding of education quality frameworks
Internal Quality Assurance qualification (or willingness to achieve)
