The Role
You'll deliver City & Guilds Functional Skills English or Maths from Entry Level 1 to Level 2, helping learners develop core skills in a way that's engaging, practical, and relevant.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to a range of learning abilities
- Carry out initial assessments and use diagnostic tools to identify starting points
- Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
- Plan creative and motivating sessions that drive learner progress
- Support learners with additional needs and provide appropriate adjustments
- Monitor progress and prepare learners for exams and assessments
- Embed confidence, communication, and real-life application into learning
- Promote literacy, numeracy, and a culture of learning across the environment
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support positive outcomes
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who believes in the power of education to change lives.
Essential
- Level 3 qualification in Maths and English
- Teaching qualification at Level 5 (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS) or willingness to work towards one
- Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths or English
- Strong classroom management and engagement skills
- Ability to adapt teaching to suit diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and learner success
Desirable
- Experience in prison, further education, or adult learning
- Familiarity with BKSB or similar diagnostic tools
- Understanding of education quality frameworks
- Internal Quality Assurance qualification (or willingness to achieve)
