We are seeking an inspiring and dedicated Functional Skills English & Maths Tutor to deliver City & Guilds Functional Skills qualifications from Entry Level 1 through to Level 2 within a prison education setting. Working within a secure education environment, you will play a vital role in helping learners overcome barriers to education and progress towards positive outcomes through high-quality teaching and learning. The Role As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will: Deliver Functional Skills English and/or Maths qualifications from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. Plan and facilitate engaging, inclusive lessons for groups of up to 12 learners. Conduct initial assessments and use diagnostic tools to identify learner starting points. Develop, review, and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). Create innovative lesson plans that encourage progression and achievement. Motivate and inspire learners to build confidence and reach their full potential. Support learners with additional learning needs and implement appropriate adjustments. Monitor learner progress and prepare learners for examinations and assessments. Promote literacy, numeracy, and a positive culture of learning. Maintain accurate learner records and assessment documentation. Work collaboratively with colleagues and support services to achieve positive learner outcomes. What We're Looking For We are looking for an enthusiastic educator who believes in the transformative power of education and is committed to helping learners succeed. Essential Requirements Level 3 qualification in Maths and English. Teaching qualification at Level 5 or above (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent), or willingness to work towards one. Experience delivering Functional Skills English and/or Maths qualifications. Strong lesson planning, classroom management, and learner engagement skills. Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet a wide range of learning needs. Excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills. Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, and learner achievement. Desirable Experience within prison education, adult learning, or further education settings. Experience using BKSB or similar diagnostic assessment tools. Knowledge of Ofsted's Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
