Are you an experienced catering professional looking to share your expertise and make a real difference?

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Catering Tutor to deliver vocational catering qualifications within HMP Belmarsh. This rewarding opportunity combines industry expertise with teaching, helping learners gain valuable skills, recognised qualifications, and the confidence needed to progress towards future employment opportunities.

Working with small groups in a secure learning environment, you will deliver engaging, practical training that supports learners to develop both vocational competence and essential workplace behaviours.

The Role

As a Catering Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver catering and hospitality qualifications to learners.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons and practical kitchen-based training.
  • Support learners to develop industry-standard skills, knowledge, and behaviours.
  • Create individual learning plans and monitor learner progress.
  • Conduct assessments and provide constructive feedback to support achievement.
  • Ensure training records and learner documentation are completed accurately.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching, learning, health and safety, and assessment.
  • Adapt delivery methods to engage learners with a range of abilities and backgrounds.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Level 2 Catering qualification or equivalent.
  • Significant vocational experience within the catering, hospitality, or food service industry.
  • Experience delivering vocational training, coaching, mentoring, or workplace instruction.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • A flexible and innovative approach to teaching and learning.

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification (AET, PTLLS, CET, DTLLS, PGCE, or equivalent).
  • Assessor qualification.
  • Experience within Further Education, Adult Education, Work-Based Learning, Apprenticeships, or Prison Education.

If you do not currently hold a teaching or assessing qualification, support may be available to help you achieve the relevant qualification during your probationary period.

Experience delivering Functional Skills English and/or Maths qualifications. Strong lesson planning, classroom management, and learner engagement skills. Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet a wide range of learning needs. Excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills. Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, and learner achievement. Desirable Experience within prison education, adult learning, or further education settings.
