About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lecturer in Electrical Engineering to join a growing Higher Education team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering engaging learning and teaching materials across a range of Electrical Engineering modules. You will inspire and motivate students through lectures, seminars, tutorials, and practical learning activities, ensuring they achieve their academic potential and develop the skills required for successful careers within the engineering sector.
Working closely with colleagues across the School, you will contribute to curriculum delivery, enhancement, and innovation, ensuring teaching content remains current, relevant, and aligned with industry developments. You will utilise digital learning technologies to support student engagement and promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment that enables students from diverse backgrounds to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, and practical sessions in Electrical Engineering.
- Prepare, develop, and update module content and learning resources.
- Support students throughout their academic journey and encourage active participation in learning.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and monitor student engagement.
- Contribute to the development of innovative teaching approaches and learning materials.
- Ensure learning activities align with programme specifications and academic standards.
- Utilise Virtual Learning Environments and digital technologies to support teaching and learning.
Assessment and Feedback
- Design and deliver assessments in line with programme requirements.
- Mark assignments, coursework, projects, and examinations.
- Provide timely, constructive, and developmental feedback to students.
- Participate in moderation and standardisation activities.
- Support students in achieving learning outcomes and academic success.
- Identify and escalate cases of potential academic misconduct in accordance with institutional procedures.
Student Support
- Provide academic guidance and support to students.
- Monitor student progress and identify areas where additional support may be required.
- Support student retention, achievement, and progression.
- Refer students to specialist support services where appropriate.
- Contribute to an inclusive, supportive, and student-focused learning environment.
Quality Assurance and Enhancement
- Contribute to programme and module evaluations.
- Participate in quality assurance and academic governance activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across programmes and modules.
- Engage with curriculum review and enhancement activities.
- Contribute to maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment.
Scholarship and Professional Development
- Stay up to date with developments within Electrical Engineering and Higher Education.
- Engage in scholarly and professional activities that enhance teaching practice.
- Apply current industry knowledge and emerging technologies within teaching delivery.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Experience teaching within a Higher Education environment.
- Strong knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles and practice.
- Experience of curriculum development, assessment, and quality assurance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage, inspire, and motivate students.
- Experience using digital learning technologies and Virtual Learning Environments.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Criteria
- PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related subject area.
- Fellowship of Advance HE or a recognised teaching qualification.
- Membership of a relevant professional engineering body.
- Experience of research, scholarly activity, or industry engagement.
- Experience leading modules, projects, or academic teams.
- Knowledge of current industry trends and emerging technologies within Electrical Engineering.
