Learning Support Assistant - Further Education College

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a well-established Further Education College in South London on a full-time temporary basis. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support students with a range of learning needs and help them achieve their educational goals in a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class support to students across a range of vocational and academic programmes.
  • Assist learners with additional learning needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to promote engagement and achievement.
  • Work closely with lecturers and curriculum teams to implement individual learning plans.
  • Encourage student independence, confidence and participation in lessons.
  • Assist with note-taking, organisation and study skills where required.
  • Monitor and record learner progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promote a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker or in a similar support-based role.
  • Experience supporting young people or adults within an educational setting is desirable.
  • Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
  • Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach to supporting learners.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting learner welfare.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a Further Education or Post-16 setting.
  • Knowledge of SEND and additional learning support strategies.
  • Relevant qualifications in Education, Support Work or Health & Social Care.
