Employability & Enrichment Assistant

£20.17 per hour | 30 hours per week (advertised as 4 full days) | Ongoing Opportunity - Birmingham

We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and proactive Employability & Enrichment Assistant to support students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in accessing enrichment activities and developing the skills, confidence and independence needed to progress into employment, apprenticeships, further study or supported internships. Based on the role profile the post combines student support, employability development and enrichment coordination.

The Role

Working as part of the Learning Services team, you will:

  • Support students with EHCPs to participate fully in enrichment activities both on and off site.
  • Encourage the development of confidence, independence, social communication and employability skills.
  • Assist students with CV writing, job applications, interview preparation and progression planning.
  • Deliver structured one-to-one and small-group activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student engagement, progress and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum staff, support teams and external partners to promote inclusive opportunities.
  • Support transition activities and help prepare students for employment, apprenticeships, supported internships or further study.
  • Accompany students on trips, visits and work-related learning activities where required.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have all of the following experience, skills and qualifications:

Essentially sought:

  • Experience supporting young people or learners with SEND, additional needs or EHCPs.
  • Experience monitoring, recording and tracking student participation, progress and outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, families and external organisations.
  • Experience supporting the development of confidence, independence, social communication or employability skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver activities that meet a range of learner needs.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record-keeping systems.
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
  • A relevant Level 3 qualification, or equivalent experience, in education, youth work, SEND, health and social care, careers guidance or a related field.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and Prevent responsibilities within education.

Working Pattern

  • 30 hours per week
  • Advertised as 4 full days per week
  • Occasional flexibility may be required for trips, activities, evenings or weekend events.

Contract Information

  • £20.17 total hourly rate
  • The role will be reviewed on a half-termly basis
  • There is potential for the position to continue long term for the right candidate; however, this cannot be guaranteed.

About You The successful candidate will ideally possess all of the following experience, skills and qualifications: Essentially sought: Experience supporting learners with SEND within an educational or support setting. Experience delivering effective one-to-one and small-group interventions. Experience maintaining accurate records and contributing to support planning and review processes. Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues and external professionals. Ability to organise and deliver structured interventions that meet individual learner needs. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while using initiative appropriately. A relevant Level 3 qualification, or equivalent experience, in education, SEND, health and social care, youth work or a related discipline. GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/Level 4 or above, or equivalent qualifications. An understanding of emotional wellbeing, social and emotional literacy, or mental health support. Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion. Understanding of safeguarding and Prevent responsibilities within an educational environment. Working Pattern 37 hours per week Full-time position Flexibility may occasionally be required to support events, activities, evenings or weekends.
