Head of Construction & Building Services (x2)

The Protocol Group is delighted to be working exclusively with a large and well-established Further Education college group in the East Midlands to recruit two Heads of Construction & Building Services on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced curriculum leader, construction manager, department manager, or apprenticeship leader looking to take the next step into a strategic leadership position within a growing and ambitious FE organisation.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Senior Education Leadership Team, you will lead and manage a broad Construction and Building Services curriculum area, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, learner outcomes, and employer engagement.

You will have responsibility for curriculum planning, operational management, quality improvement, staff development, and the continued growth of an area that plays a vital role in supporting skills development across the region.

• Multi-Trades
• Carpentry & Joinery
• Brickwork
• Plumbing
• Electrical Installation
• Painting & Decorating
• Construction Skills
• Building Services Engineering
• Apprenticeships
• Employer-Led Provision

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across the Construction and Building Services department.
• Drive outstanding learner achievement, retention, attendance, and progression outcomes.
• Lead curriculum development to ensure provision meets industry needs and employer demand.
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, and performance targets.
• Support, coach, and develop teaching and support staff to achieve excellence.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, stakeholders, and industry partners.
• Ensure programmes remain compliant with awarding body and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to the college group's wider strategic objectives and growth plans.

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

• Experience leading Construction or Building Services provision within Further Education, Apprenticeship delivery, Independent Training Providers, or Higher Education.
• Strong knowledge of vocational construction qualifications, apprenticeship standards, and industry requirements.
• Proven leadership and people management experience with a track record of delivering positive outcomes.
• Experience driving quality improvement and enhancing learner success.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to develop employer partnerships.
• A genuine passion for developing learners and creating opportunities within the construction sector.

Additional Information

The college's preference is to appoint on a permanent basis to provide long-term stability and leadership. However, applications will also be considered from experienced interim leaders who may be interested in a temporary-to-permanent route.
