Designated Lead (Looked After Children & Care Leavers) South Yorkshire/North Nottinghamshire based FE college. 37 hours per week/52 weeks per year Temporary for 3 months or until the permanent role has been filled - potential for temporary to permanent. Our client is seeking a passionate and dedicated Designated Lead (Looked After Children & Care Leavers) to join the Student Support team. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to champion some of our most vulnerable learners, ensuring they receive the support, guidance, and opportunities needed to thrive both academically and personally. As the Group's Designated Lead, you will act as the key advocate for Looked After Children, Care Leavers, Previously Looked After Children, and other care-experienced learners. Working closely with curriculum teams, Virtual Schools, Local Authorities, carers, and support agencies, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers, achieve their potential, and progress into successful futures. What you'll bring: Lead on the Group's statutory responsibilities for care-experienced learners. Coordinate and chair electronic Personal Education Plans (ePEPs), ensuring all statutory deadlines are met. Monitor attendance, retention, achievement, progression, and destinations of vulnerable learners. Develop and implement timely interventions to support student engagement and success. Build strong partnerships with Local Authorities, Virtual Schools, carers, and external agencies. Provide targeted pastoral support, mentoring, and advocacy. Promote trauma-informed approaches across curriculum areas. Prepare reports for senior leaders and college committees on learner outcomes and support needs. Contribute to policy development and continuous improvement of student support services. Act as a trusted point of contact and emotionally available adult for learners who need additional support. To be successful in this role, you will: Experience developing and implementing effective learner support strategies. Strong safeguarding knowledge and case management experience. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. The ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners. A proactive and resilient approach when managing competing priorities. A Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in English and Maths, or willingness to achieve these. A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care, Youth Work, Social Studies, or a related field. A teaching qualification at Level 3 or above would be advantageous.
