The Protocol Group is working with a client in South Yorkshire seeking a proactive and dedicated Engineering Technician (Fabrication & Welding) to support the delivery of practical engineering programmes and help develop the next generation of skilled engineers. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with industry experience who enjoys a hands-on environment and wants to play a key role in maintaining high-quality workshop facilities, supporting learners, and contributing to the continued development of our Engineering provision. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and set up equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons, assessments and demonstrations. Support tutors and students during workshop sessions, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. Maintain machinery, equipment and workshop facilities to a high standard. Distribute and monitor tools, consumables and equipment. Manage stock levels and order replacement materials where required. Ensure workshops remain clean, organised and compliant with health and safety regulations. Support departmental projects and collaborate with colleagues across different curriculum areas. Assist with workshop security and report any loss or damage of equipment. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience working within the Fabrication & Welding industry. A Level 2 qualification or above in a relevant Fabrication & Welding discipline. A strong understanding of workshop health and safety. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. A positive, team-focused approach and a passion for supporting learners. Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to work towards these qualifications).
