Lead, Inspire and Shape the Future of Electrical Training
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical education professional to join a growing training provider as Head of Electrical Training.
This role will suit an individual with a strong Electrical Installation background who has progressed into education and training, and is now looking to take ownership of a department, lead a team of trainers and assessors, and drive quality, performance and learner success.
You will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Electrical provision, ensuring programmes are delivered to the highest standards while maintaining excellent learner outcomes and employer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Lead and manage the Electrical department.
- Support, mentor and develop a team of Electrical Tutors, Trainers and Assessors.
- Drive performance against learner achievement, retention and progression targets.
- Conduct performance reviews, quality observations and staff development activities.
- Create a positive culture focused on quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
- Manage departmental resources, planning and operational activities.
Quality & Curriculum
- Oversee the quality of teaching, learning and assessment across all Electrical programmes.
- Monitor learner performance, attendance, achievement and progress.
- Ensure programmes meet awarding body and quality requirements.
- Lead curriculum planning and development to ensure programmes remain relevant to industry needs.
- Develop quality improvement plans where required.
- Support internal and external quality assurance processes.
Employer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with employers and industry partners.
- Support apprenticeship and commercial training growth.
- Act as the key point of contact for Electrical provision.
- Work with internal departments to ensure excellent learner and employer experiences.
- Promote the organisation and its Electrical provision to external stakeholders.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all training environments maintain the highest standards of health and safety.
- Act as a role model for safe working practices.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and awarding organisation requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of current legislation, regulations and industry developments.
Essential Requirements
- Recent and relevant experience within Domestic, Commercial and/or Industrial Electrical Installation.
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (C&G 2382).
- ECS or JIB Gold Card (or equivalent occupational competence).
- Previous management or leadership experience within an education, apprenticeship or training environment.
- Experience leading Electrical curriculum delivery, apprenticeship provision or training programmes.
- Strong understanding of teaching, learning and assessment practices.
- Experience managing staff performance and learner outcomes.
- Experience working with employers and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- Teaching Qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, AET or equivalent).
- Assessor Qualification (TAQA, A1, CAVA or equivalent).
- Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification.
- C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing.
- C&G 2396 Design & Verification.
- Solar PV, EV Charging or other renewable energy qualifications.
- Experience preparing for or supporting Ofsted inspections.
